Letter From Our recruitment Chair

Dear Potential New Members,

Everyone starts their college career not knowing what will happen or where they’ll find their place. I came to college nervous and unsure of if I even wanted to be involved in a Greek organization. I decided to take part in recruitment, and as I went to house after house meeting these sorority girls I realized my idea of Greek life was way off. Everyone I spoke to was so nice and they were all having a great time and, suddenly, I couldn’t wait to be one of them.

They tell you all throughout recruitment that you end up where you’re supposed to be and, as much as I tried to fight it, they were right. My older sister had been a Delta Gamma at the College of Charleston a few years before me and I was determined NOT to join her sorority - I wanted to have my own letters.  Obviously, that didn’t happen. Every day that I

went to the Delta Gamma house I would talk to people that were not only friendly, but genuine, uplifting, intelligent women that I could really see myself being friends with. By the end of the week I’d called my sister and told her I was admitting defeat and that I wanted to go Delta Gamma. There were more than a few ‘I told you so’s, but she was ecstatic.

It’s been almost three years now since I joined Delta Gamma and I could not be happier that I did. I have met the most amazing women who have helped me grow as a person and become some of my very best friends along the way. Whether it be studying all night with me before an exam, coming to my rescue when my car gets stuck on a flooded street, or simply getting coffee with me while I rant about a bad day, I know that I can count on my sisters to be there for me when I need them. Being a part of Delta Gamma has taught me to be more open, generous, and kind and I owe my sisters greatly for helping me become the person I am today.

Every year when recruitment comes around I get excited to think that a whole new class of girls is about to find their home in a Greek organization. Wherever you end up, I hope that you too will make lifelong friends that will support and guide you, just as mine have done for me. We are so excited to meet each of you and can’t wait to show what our sisterhood has to offer!
